Substance Abuse Alcohol

Drinking is an important activity in many people’s lives. They drink to host a bride and groom, have wine over a meal, meeting for drinks with friends. Most people can handle that sort of drinking, but there are those who actually live to drink. That is all they think about, when they can have their next drink, no matter what it is. From gin to beer, they think they can not live with out it. They will even sneak alcohol, putting it in their morning coffee, hid bottles of alcohol and swear they are not drinking. That is substance abuse alcohol, plain and simple

Substance abuse alcohol, some say, will and can sneak up on you and one will not realize they are an alcoholic until it is too late. If already there as an alcoholic, there are groups and therapies that will help one over come the substance abuse alcohol. Although one must remember the alcoholic must realize that they are an alcoholic and want to seek help. One cannon tell that person to get help, they will not if they do not want to.

Not saying that anyone that has an occasional drink or two are alcoholics or will become one; no, that is not true. Many can have one drink and walk away, others can not. No one really knows why this is so, some attribute it to their parents being alcoholics, others say they just like to drink. Substance abuse alcohol can affect anyone, anytime. How one was raised can lead to substance abuse alcohol; the environment and one’s emotional health.

Some signs of substance abuse alcohol but are not limited to might be not owning up to ones responsibilities at home, work or the school because of the drinking. Many will go to work or to school either still drunk or so hung over they can not concentrate. This will certainly cause loss of their home, work and be kicked out of school. Drinking and driving just do not mix. Many people have lost their lives or the lives of their loved ones because some had been drinking.

Many relationships have fallen apart because of substance abuse alcohol. Going out drinking with one’s buddies and forgetting about the girlfriend sitting at home is not good. Promising to visit the family and never show up, or worse yet showing up drunk can harm any relationship, no matter how strong it is. Eventually it will erode at the relationship and it will die and go away.

Many will deny substance abuse alcohol until they are blue in the face. No matter what one says, they are not alcoholics. When one does deny this they are sinking deeper and deeper in depression that will not go away. The drinking becomes worse and finally one day they might be found dead in their home or killed someone. Many will claim they can stop drinking anytime, but that is not true; it is a vicious cycle that will not stop until they are ready to stop and get help.
